Barre, VT — Montpelier’s Kyle Pembroke beat the competition, the fireworks, and the rain at the Preston’s Kia Holiday Spectacular at Barre’s Thunder Road on Thursday, July 1. Pembroke went pole-to-pole in dominating fashion to capturing the Firecracker 54 for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models live on FloRacing.

On a night where everyone was trying to stay one step ahead of the weather, Pembroke and his Kinney Drugs Chevy found the perfect prescription to do so: go fast and turn left. The result was Pembroke’s ninth career Late Model victory and second of the season.

Barre, VT — Graniteville’s Stephen Donahue scored the closest win of the Maplewood/Irving Oil season Barre’s at Thunder Road on Thursday, June 24. “Little Irish” went back and forth with Jim “Boomer” Morris for the final 13 laps before earning the victory by a mere 0.025 seconds as part of Community College of Vermont Night. It was the third career Late Model win at Thunder Road for Donahue, who also has multiple victories at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park.

Barre, VT — Barre’s Jason Corliss simply could not be stopped en route to victory at Casella Waste Systems Night on Thursday, June 17. Corliss roared from 17th on the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model starting grid to take the lead from Wolcott’s Brendan Moodie with seven laps remaining in the 50-lap feature and sail away for the win.

It was the 22nd Late Model victory of Corliss’s career at Thunder Road, moving him into a tie with Nick Sweet for second all-time. His second win of the season extended his points lead as he pursues a rare three-peat as “King of the Road”.

Ryan Preece to Enter Vermont Governor’s Cup at Thunder Road

Barre, VT — Thunder Road announced today that NASCAR Cup Series racer and Tour-type Modified standout Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT will compete in this year’s Essex Equipment Vermont Governor’s Cup on Thursday, July 15. Preece will drive a car prepared by American-Canadian Tour and NASCAR Busch North Series legend Dale Shaw, who will also serve as his crew chief for the event.

Preece is in the middle of his third full-time season with the NASCAR Cup Series. He currently sits 24th in points driving for JTG Daughtry Racing. Prior to joining the team, Preece won two Xfinity Series races for Joe Gibbs. The Governor’s Cup will be Preece’s first time racing at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” and his first time in an ACT Late Model.
