Aside from owning D.J. Shaw’s runner-up in 2021 ACT points Late Model, as well as Matthew Smith’s ninth in 2021 Thunder Road points mount, a decades-long member of the Vermont racing community and sponsor of multiple machines over the years, Hill was the unanimous choice to receive the prestigious Don MacTavish Memorial Award.

For the Monaco Modified Tri-Track stars, it means the first time their rumble has echoed off the Green Mountains in twelve years and a chance at $10,000. For the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models it means starting the 2022 points-season strong with a shot at getting their names etched in granite for all time.

Along the backstretch of the famous Vermont oval, a new section specifically for vehicles to drive in and park will open officially for the annual holiday weekend event.

Barre, VT — As part of last weekend’s 63rd Season Opener and Community Bank 150, Thunder Road and the American-Canadian Tour celebrated their 2021 champions, top runners and rookies as well as the various annual special awards presented by the ACT sanctioning body. Because of COVID-19 concerns, the annual dinner and awards ceremony was once again held outdoors on the Thunder Road property under the afternoon sun.
