Barre, VT — When Thunder Road opens its gates once again on Thursday, June 22nd it does so to celebrate an unsung hero. With the help of the Community College of Vermont, and alongside all four Thunder Road divisions, will be the 9th annual Marvin Johnson Memorial First Time Winners Race for the rk Miles Street Stocks. A 19-lap affair open only to non-winners in the region’s most competitive four-cylinder division, the Marvin Johnson Memorial honors one of the good ones taken far too soon before he, himself, could visit victory lane at the Nation’s Site of Excitement.

Barre, VT — The annual Thursday Night opener at Thunder Road presented by Casella Waste Management brought fans to the edge of their seats with hard-nosed racing already becoming the definition of the 2023 season. Side-by-side battles were commonplace across the board as the season-long points chase came to the forefront of every driver’s mind with fans getting to experience old and new all together in year 64 high atop Quarry Hill. One particular driver got to step in both worlds with success in each outing.

Barre, VT — It’s an annual tradition on Quarry Hill to welcome in the iconic weekly Thursday Night racing at Thunder Road with the sights and sounds of yesteryear courtesy of the New England Antique Racers (NEAR). Celebrating the venerable oval’s 64th season of racing, the flathead coupes, vintage modifieds and hard-charging American muscle machines invoke the feeling of years gone by, showcasing a love of racing in Central Vermont that goes all the way back to 1960. Casella Waste Management Night on Thursday, June 15th will certainly get the blood pumping in race fans, drivers, crew members and officials alike as the championship battles begin to take shape for the Maplewood/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks. 

Barre, VT —  Although practice was plagued by raindrops that also pushed back the start time of Friday’s festivities, drivers and officials pushed and completed the Vermont Career Technical Centers and Vermont Agency of Education Night with flying colors at Thunder Road. The annual Friday Night Special was filled with plenty of spills and thrills and the sights and sounds of the ultra-fast New England Supermodified Series was also a stellar sight to behold.

Barre, VT — The 60t Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic proved to be one of the most spectacular in the iconic event’s illustrious career. One-hundred-and-twenty-four cars flooded the Thunder Road pit area ranging from the top oval track masters of the Green Mountain State to some of the most nationally recognized names in Tour-type Modifieds. In the end, five deserving drivers took down impressive wins to be crowned on Memorial Day Weekend headlined by the victorious return of the ‘King of Barre’ to Thunder Road victory lane and a longtime racer from Ellington, Connecticut getting his second major Modified win of 2023.
