Next month, the 56th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank will make its national television debut. Thunder Road Speedbowl, American-Canadian Tour (ACT), Speed51.com, and MAVTV Motorsports Network officials announced today that the event will have its world broadcast premiere Wednesday, November 7 at 7:00pm as part of the network’s “Speed51’s Short Track America” series.

The 1-hour broadcast will feature the 3-segment Milk Bowl for ACT-type Late Models that was contested on Sunday, September 30. It is the first time that “The Toughest Short Track Race in North America” will air on national TV in its 56-year history.

Speed51 TV is producing the professional multi-camera broadcast, which will include in-car cameras, live timing, and network-style graphics. The broadcast team features longtime motorsports journalist/broadcaster Bob Dillner and Speed51.com Editor Brandon Paul on play-by-play and color commentary.  Award-winning Vermont motorsports journalist Justin St. Louis will serve as pit reporter.

In addition to the premiere at 7:00pm on November 7, the Vermont Milk Bowl will also air at 10:00pm the same night and at 4:00am on Thursday, November 8. Future broadcast dates and times will be determined by the network. All times are Eastern Standard Time.

“The Milk Bowl is one of the most important races in the culture of the sport we love so much and that’s why we wanted to showcase it on Speed51’s Short Track America on MAVTV,” said Speed51.com Executive Editor Bob Dillner.  “I mean, where else does the winner kiss a cow at the end of the race? There was a ton of unbelievable racing in this event, so I believe a fan of any realm of racing will enjoy this broadcast.”

The 56th Vermont Milk Bowl is already being talked about as one of the best events in the history of Thunder Road. Barre, VT’s Jason Corliss earned his second straight Milk Bowl victory by passing Hinesburg, VT’s Bobby Therrien in the final corner. The two entered the final segment tied for the overall lead and went back and forth throughout the segment right up until Corliss’s winning move.

Fans of short track racing around the world will now have a chance to experience the event for the first time or relive their favorite moments. Other highlights from this year’s event included a thrilling segment 2 win by Quebec star Patrick Laperle plus a wild crash involving 3-time Milk Bowl winner Nick Sweet, polesitter Jimmy Hebert, and current ACT point leader Scott Payea.

The full one-hour broadcast will also be available to Lucas Oil Racing TV subscribers at a later date. Both MAVTV and Lucas Oil Racing TV are owned by Lucas Oil Products.
