2020 Thunder Road Season: By the Numbers
/0.031 — The margin of victory (in seconds) for Michael Martin over Sam Caron at the second Flying Tiger Triple Crown Series event on August 6.
2 — Michael Martin and Brandon Gray were the only drivers to win at Thunder Road this year in two different classes. Martin won two Flying Tiger features and also took the Honey Badger Bar & Grill Street Stock Series event on October 2. Gray won two Street Stock features and captured the Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 on August 23.
2 — Bryan Wall Jr.’s first two top-10 finishes in the Flying Tigers were both wins (July 30 and August 13). Prior to the July 30 win, his best career Tiger finish had been 15th.
4 — Jason Woodard won his fourth Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger championship (2014, 2017, 2019, 2020). He now has the most Flying Tiger titles of any driver, breaking a tie with Shawn Fleury (2005, 2006, 2013).
4 — Number of teenagers that won a race at Thunder Road (Kaiden Fisher, Tanner Woodard, Cooper French, and Clay Badger).
5 — Number of Thunder Road wins for Jason Corliss this year, more than any other driver. (He also won a sixth event at White Mountain Motorsports Park.)
6 — No Flying Tiger driver had more than six top-5 finishes this year in their 15 events (14 point-counting). Cameron Ouellette (12) and Jason Woodard (11) were the only drivers to reach double-digits in top-10s.
6 — The Allen Lumber Street Stock division alone had six first-time winners. This equals half of the 12 total winners in their 16 events.
8 — Jason Corliss became the eighth different driver to win back-to-back “King of the Road” titles.
12 years, 308 days — Age of Shelburne, VT’s Kaiden Fisher when he became the youngest winner in Thunder Road history by taking the Street Stock feature on July 30. He would add two more wins before his 13th birthday.
13 — Jason Corliss’s 13 top-5 finishes were more than any other driver at Thunder Road.
15 — Brandon Gray had more top-10 finishes than any other driver at Thunder Road, with 14 in the Street Stocks plus his Enduro win. Jason Corliss and Scott Dragon tied for second with 14 top-10s.
16 — Total number of first-time winners at Thunder Road this year. This includes all local divisions plus the PASS Modified (Tyler King) and Dwarf Car (Colby Bourgeois) winners on Milk Bowl Weekend.
16 — Jason Corliss’s Milk Bowl win made him the first driver in 16 years to win both the track championship and the Milk Bowl in the same year. The last driver to do so was current track co-owner Cris Michaud in 2004.
20 — Jason Corliss’s five Thunder Road Late Model wins this year give him 20 for his career. He moves into a tie with Cris Michaud and Dave Pembroke for third on the all-time list.
21 — Number of Flying Tiger drivers who had at least one podium finish, more than any other division.
30.3 — The Flying Tiger division averaged more than 30 cars per event. Of the 15 events they were a part of, the Milk Bowl was the only event where they didn’t have the highest car count.
33 — Brandon Gray’s Street Stock championship came 33 years after his late father Troy won the 1987 Street Stock title. Both are also now Enduro champions (Troy’s win came in 2008).
45 — Number of drivers with at least one Thunder Road feature win this year across all divisions and series.
49 years, 189 days – Age of Mike Billado when he won the Flying Tiger feature on June 18, making him the oldest Thunder Road winner of the year.
58 — 58 editions of the Vermont Milk Bowl have now been held. With the 2020 Memorial Day Classic ultimately getting cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Milk Bowl has now been run more than any other Thunder Road event.
1,011 — The number of events that have now been held in Thunder Road’s 61-year history.
