Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac Retry on Tap for Sunday, August 20th

Barre, VT — After officials attempted to get in Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac Night before rains moved in to squash the effort, Sunday, August 20th brings the retry. Sunday night will feature the final round of the 2023 Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers as the nation’s top support division goes for 100 laps of heart-pounding action on the Barre highbanks!

Sam Caron continues a winless lead of the Flying Tiger standings in his title defense season but looks to change that statistic on Sunday. No stranger to long-distance competition, Caron’s past Late Model experience and several close calls in Myers Triple Crown championship contention put Caron at the top of everyone’s watch list. Standing in his way is hot-shoe Jason Pelkey and 2018 Myers champion Joel Hodgdon. Hodgdon currently leads the series standings and looks to become the first repeat Triple Crown champion at The Road while Pelkey will have to put the power down and make-up for a rough couple of events in weekly competition. Don’t count out Rich Lowrey, Brandon Gray or Logan Powers either as the season comes down to the wire.

After losing an axle late in the going in yesterday’s 50-lapper, Nick Sweet’s lead in the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model standings has been swallowed up by Graniteville’s Chris Pelkey. In his title defense season, Pelkey is the lone Late Model pilot to take a top-10 finish in all eleven events so far this season and looks to also join the winner’s circle on Sunday. Marcel Gravel has also come on strong following Midseason Championships to stay a close second, just six-points back with Stephen Donahue methodically making up ground and staying consistent for a late-season shot at the King of the Road title!

After Berlin’s Kasey Collins became the fifth first-time winner of the year in the rk Miles Street Stocks last night, Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac Night could send home another first-timer on Sunday. The most competitive four-cylinder division in New England has had eleven different winners in thirteen events this year and while James Dopp and Cameron Powers look to add another trophy to their mantel and keep up the point lead, the Streets have proved time and time again that anything can happen.

Nate Brien bounced back from terrible luck in the Road Warrior Challenge to steal away last night’s 20-lap win but with freshman Brayden Murphy and Nick Copping joining him in victory lane, Sunday could make for more fun in the entry level division. With the season winding down, the ‘newbies’ are hitting their stride and giving the veterans a run for their money creating another crap-shoot for the winning warrior on Sunday.
