Looking Ahead: Five Events to Look Forward to at The Nation’s Site of Excitement in 2024
/Barre, VT — After celebrating the night away on New Years Eve, we’re too excited for the 2024 season to contain ourselves! Looking ahead to the upcoming 65th season of competition at Thunder Road International Speedbowl, we’ve hand-picked five events that we’re most looking forward to this year.

Sunday, May 5, 2024 – 26th annual Community Bank 150 for the American-Canadian Tour
Opening day is always at the top of every race fans’ list, and Thunder Road’s opening day is annually one of New England’s biggest events. The pomp and circumstance begins with the annual Class Day celebrations to showcase every team’s brand-new, beautiful machines, the teams themselves and the 2023 track champions.
Sunday will also host the first of two point-counting visits for the American-Canadian Tour as the legendary Tour returns home to open the season with the 26th annual Community Bank 150! Track championship competition will also begin for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks with the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors getting in on the action as well!
Sunday, May 26, 2024 – 61st Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic
The Thunder Road season begins with some of the season’s biggest events, including the 61s Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 26! The Memorial Day Classic 125 for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models not only kicks off the King of the Road track championship but also the all-new Late Model Triple Crown for 2024!
The Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic also signals the return of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series as the mighty tour-type modifieds take on the Thunder Road highbanks to once again pound the ground for the $10,000 Granite City 100 victory!
Thursday, July 18, 2024 – SRX Series Debut!
After devastating flooding eroded the chances for the SRX Series debut last July, the world-renowned series will make its debut at the Nation’s Site of Excitement in 2024 as some of the top international racers take on Thunder Road, many for the first time in their careers! Along with the rest of you, we patiently await to hear this year’s roster but make no mistake, the all star roster will put on one of the most thrilling events in the 65 year history of Thunder Road this July!
Thursday, August 22, 2024 – Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac Night
The Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac 100 returns to the schedule once again as the defining Flying Tiger event of the summer! Not only will the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Champion be crowned, the Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac 100 also serves as the midway point in the all-new ACT Tri-State Flying Tiger Series! Excitement is building for the new Tri-State Series and the Flying Tiger divisions as a whole and we can’t wait for this fantastic late-season Thursday Night Classic!
Sunday, October 6, 2024 – 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank
The 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank is once again set to be the iconic season-ending celebration of history, excitement and good, old-fashioned hard-nosed racing!
Teams from across the Northeast will invade the highbanks for a piece of the $100,000 purse and the chance to kiss the Milk Bowl Queen before a capacity crowd and those watching around the world on FloRacing!
Will another name be added to the roster of legendary former winners or will one of those legends regain the milk can?!
