The Superstars of Thunder Road Prepare for Exciting Double Features on Thursday, July 18

Barre, VT — Central Vermont is ready to celebrate the Superstars of Thunder Road that make Barre’s 1/4-mile bullring the Nation’s Site of Excitement this Thursday, July 18 with a massive Double Features night for all four divisions! The Maplefield/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors all go for twin features to stand tall as the Superstars of Thunder Road!

East Barre’s Chip Grenier continues to hold an ironic nine-point lead over 2022 King of the Road Chris Pelkey in the current rundown. The #9VT has been strong this summer after nabbing his first win in over a decade on the highbanks and Grenier has double the chance on Double Feature night! While Pelkey, Brandon Lanphear, Scott Dragon and Kaiden Fisher look to do the same, perhaps it’s not those who top the point standings that folks will have their eyes on. Generational hot-shoes Nick Sweet, Jason Corliss and defending champion Stephen Donahue have been digging deep lately for a winning run and Thursday may be the night they nab the brass ring!

Following his win on Vermont Construction Night last Thursday, Brandon Gray has a firm command on the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers point standings. The East Thetford driver has been the dominant force over at White Mountain Motorsports Park and has worked all season so far to climb up the ranks at Thunder Road. While Sam Caron continues to hold second overall, he’ll need to make Thursday’s double features count after two weeks of less-than-ideal finishes, especially with both Kevin and Kyle Streeter, among others, hot on his heels in the championship chase!

If hard charging racing is what you’re looking for, look no further than the rk Miles Street Stocks! Separated by just four points, the top-two point men Trevor Jaques and Dean Switser Jr. put on a clinic each and every week in New England’s most competitive four-cylinder division, driving from their handicapped rear-of-the-field starting spot to the front every week this summer! Switser and Jaques haven’t been the only ones either, Tyler Whittemore and Zach Audet have also made it a weekly occurrence in the division’s 25-lap trophy dashes. With two on tap for Thursday, it’s only double the excitement for fans and drivers alike!

The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors make their return after an off-week for the novice division to recoup and rebuild! ‘The Frickin Chicken’ Brodie Frazier nabbed his first career Road Warrior feature victory last time out, making it five different winners in as many events in 2024. Will the streak continue with two features on Thursday or will the twin 20-lappers be a war of attrition for the fan-favorite division?

The Nation’s Site of Excitement ramps up on Thursday, July 18 for an epic night of racing for the Short Track Racing Superstars of Thunder Road! The Superstars of Thunder Road Night is headlined with Double Features for the Maplefield/Irving Oil Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors! Double the features means double the payout plus a special bonus to the three best averaged finishes between these twin features for all four divisions!

Post Time Thursday is 6:30pm with Grandstands opening at 4:30pm. Adult General Admission is set at $20 with kids 12-6 for $5 and children 5 and under free! The Family Four Pack (Two Adults, Two Kids) will also be available for $40.
