Times Argus Midseason Championship Brings Double Points, Double FloRacing Purse to Thrilling Thursday Action
/Barre, VT — The action continues to grow at the Nation’s Site of Excitement this Thursday as the Times Argus presents the annual Midseason Championships at Thunder Road with extra distance and a Double Purse for all divisions courtesy of FloRacing! The Midseason Championships are one of the most sought-after victories of the season at Thunder Road with fans treated to plenty of action on the Barre highbanks as well as the annual Autograph Session during intermission!
Coming off the impressive Superstars of Thunder Road double feature night, Shelburne’s Kaiden Fisher has claimed a narrow two-point lead ahead of tied Vermont Governor’s Cup champion Scott Dragon and Chip Grenier in the Maplefields/Irving Late Model standings. While all three could be a shoo-in for Thursday’s win, keep your eye on the #64VT. Chris Pelkey has already had quite the year, taking his first American-Canadian Tour victory in May’s Community Bank 150 before stunning again in the Jack Daniels Cocktails 100 on July 7. Pelkey took the Times Argus Midseason Championship back-to-back in 2021 and ’22, he certainly isn’t out of the question for #3 this Thursday!
East Thetford’s Brandon Gray went back-to-back over the last two weeks to compound a 66-point lead over his closest competitor, 2022 Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger champion Sam Caron. Gray has been hot-to-trot once again in 2024, dominating in the Flying Tiger class at White Mountain Motorsports Park with six-straight wins on the season plus the three he’s claimed at Thunder Road so far. Coming on late this Midseason is defending champion Kyle Streeter, making valuable gains in the last several weeks along with, father, Kevin Streeter, Milton’s Robert Gordon and Middlesex’s Logan Powers.
After some rough performance issues under the hood of the Trevor Jaques-machine, Milton’s top four-cylinder driver has slid back to third on the rk Miles Street Stock standings. Dean Switser Jr. powered through last week’s double feature action to claim the top spot over Tyler Whittemore and Jaques with the Waterford driver looking for his second career track championship at The Road, but also his second Times Argus Midseason Championship this Thursday!
The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors make their return to Thunder Road after Williamstown’s Nate ‘Tater’ Brien became the division’s first multi-time winner in 2024 last Thursday. With double features last week, Nick Copping joined the growing list of first-time Road Warrior winners at the Nation’s Site of Excitement with the odds certainly looking for another first-timer this week!
