Casella Continues Twenty-Year Partnership at Thunder Road
/Barre, VT – Casella Waste Systems, Inc. and Thunder Road International Speedbowl have once again signed on to continue a relationship that started in 2002. Casella has committed to another three years of event sponsorship at the Nation’s Site of Excitement starting on Thursday, June 12, with three special additions, including the New England Antique Racers (NEAR), the Marvin Johnson Memorial Race, and Scout Night with all Scouts in uniform admitted free on Casella Night!
Casella is a true Vermont success story. Beginning with a humble start and a single pickup truck in Rutland, Vermont back in 1975, Casella has grown to operate in ten states and continues to lead the solid waste industry with an innovative business strategy that seeks to create sustainable value beyond the traditional waste disposal model. Casella views waste as a resource for producing renewable energy and a raw material for sustainably manufacturing new products.
"As we celebrate 50 years of service, Casella is honored to continue our partnership with Thunder Road,” said Michael Casella, Area Vice President for Casella. “For five decades, Casella has been dedicated to providing sustainable materials management solutions and giving back to the local communities that have supported our growth. Our continued sponsorship of Thunder Road is a reflection of our ongoing investment in building a more sustainable future while supporting local traditions and creating meaningful connections."
After initially partnering with Thunder Road in 2002, Casella has been a constant supporter of the Nation’s Site of Excitement, and the next three seasons will be no different! Thursday, June 12 will host the annual visit from the New England Antique Racers, as the cars of yesteryear bring nostalgia to the 66th season at Thunder Road with a visit from the NEAR Hall of Fame mobile museum. Casella Night will also feature the annual Marvin Johnson Memorial First-Time Winner’s race open to all non-winners in the rk Miles Street Stock ranks, as well as Scout Night, where all scouts in uniform are admitted free.
“We’re glad to continue our great relationship with Casella,” said Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. “It makes all of us at Thunder Road very proud to continue these longstanding relationships and our partnership with Casella is a prime example.”
The season kicks off the following day, May 4, with the 27th annual Community Bank, n.a. 150 for the American-Canadian Tour and the start of track championship racing for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and the non-point Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors!
