Fan-Favorite Run-What-U-Brung Up Next for Thunder Road’s Final Thursday of the Season
/Barre, VT — After stellar racing highlighted the FloRacing reels on Sunday, Thunder Road turns around and returns to racing for the final Thursday-night program of the season on Jet Service Envelope/Accura Printing Night on August 24th. Featuring the fan-favorite Run-What-U-Brung spectator drags, Jet Service/Accura Printing night is annually circled on everyone’s calendar in Central Vermont as THE can’t-miss Thursday night at Thunder Road and 2023 will prove no different.
After stellar green-to-checker, side-by-side racing on Sunday night, the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models are showcasing themselves as world class on the global FloRacing stage. The top-7 championship chasers are separated by a mere 16-points with Scott Dragon searching for his third King of the Road title standing just one point above Marcel Gravel and four-points above defending champion Chris Pelkey. Both Gravel and Pelkey amazingly remain winless this season and look to change that tag-line on Thursday.
Colchester’s Sam Caron continues to lead the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger championship standings and similarly continues to search for his first win of the season. The defending champion has been hot on his trail for a second consecutive title, finishing second three times early in the year while maintaining a strong run through the second half of the season. While Jason Pelkey has slipped back to fourth in the standings with Myers Container Triple Crown champion Logan Powers in fifth, a consistent Kyle Streeter sits just 13 points back with hot-shoe Brandon Gray in third going into Jet Service Envelope/Accura Printing night after putting on a stellar show at the front on Sunday’s 100 lapper.
Northfield’s James Dopp still leads East Montpelier’s Cam Powers by 11 points in the rk Miles Street Stocks. Both the 0 and the 30 have had all eyes on them throughout the second half of the summer as the two are constantly side-by-side amongst the most competitive four-cylinder drivers in the Northeast. Several mid-packers have also come on strong in the last several weeks and with two first-time winners already in the month of August, Thursday could add another first-timer to the history books.
Speaking of first-time winners, Northfield’s Karsen Murphy also took down his first career Thunder Road win on the big track in the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors after starting off on the backstretch go-kart track. The Road Warriors continue to put on thrilling, haywire racing each week and Jet Service Envelope/Accura Printing night will only add to their glorious reputation.
