Wet Weather Forces Schedule Shake-Up for Thunder Road

Barre, VT — Following the second weather-related postponement in three weeks at Thunder Road, officials have shaken up the schedule to accommodate Mother Nature. While the majority of the schedule remains in place, the 45th Vermont Governor’s Cup will now be contested on Thursday, July 11 with the addition of the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors to make it a four-division card. Thursday, July 11th’s originally scheduled events, including the second round of the Myers Container Service Triple Crown have been moved to a new twilight Sunday special on August 11.

After discussions with an excited Cole Custer, both parties agreed that Thursday, July 11 would work with Custer’s busy NASCAR Xfinity schedule with the national series scheduled at Pocono Speedway that weekend. The entire schedule from the 45th Vermont Governor’s Cup will be transposed onto Thursday, July 11 with the addition of the Road Warriors. As such, Thursday, July 11 will now host the conclusion of the inaugural Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown with the 45th Vermont Lottery Governor’s Cup alongside the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors with a special 6:30pm post time.
